Our four-acre Forest Classroom is made up of diverse ecosystems of Black Cottonwood, Ponderosa Pine, & Alder forests. It’s part of a wildlife corridor that comes around the Clubhouse Farm and stretches up into the mountains and is habitat for a variety of creatures.
Our trails take us through riparian Black Cottonwood where the endangered western screech owls nest, and up into Ponderosa Pine – home to nesting pairs of great horned owls. There is always something to discover, explore and discuss.
The wildlife that passes through leave signs like scat, tracks, or marks on trees. These creatures are caught on our trail cameras, so we can keep an eye on who comes and goes through our classroom when we’re not around. Because we rarely see any animals when we visit, these images spark inquiry-based learning about how animals live in these habitats
